What is C.E.R.E.C. and a single visit restoration?

CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic. What it really is, is a fascinating technology that allows the dentist and team to make strong, accurate, good looking restorations (crowns, veneers, onlays and inlays) that can be bonded to your teeth in one visit of 2-2.5 hours-(about half that time you sit and wait).

It is a process by which a dentist prepare teeth, take optical impressions, design a restoration via computer, mill and fire the restoration if necessary, and then bond the restoration to your tooth or implant. No temporary crown and no second visit!. True- there has been some bugs with this system in the past but I believe that with the new ceramics the wrinkles have been ironed out. It is also true that if multiple teeth are to be worked on, it may be better to take impressions and temporize because of the time involved. I believe this system can utilize materials that most closely match  lost enamel from your teeth. That is why I have chosen to have this technology in my own mouth.

By the way, our office was the first in Clackamas County to incorporate CEREC into our office. This is one feature of our office that sets us apart.
